Our weekend

This weekend...

We enjoyed our last two days with Daddy home from work....

And the last naps taken on the couch (this is my favorite thing about a newborn, hours of uninterrupted snuggle time)

First baths.....

She really did like the bath for the most part. But who likes getting their hair washed??

Big Sissy helping with the bath-she supervised Mommy

Cooing with Sophie and really enjoying her awake time

Look at that baby fuzz!

A visit by Grammy and Granda-da
Princess dress-up....

We were so lucky over the last two weeks to have dinner provided by our wonderful friends and family--we had something every night. But alas the gravy train ran out (har-har) and I had to cook on Sunday.
We had fried cube steak, roasted potatoes with rosemary and garlic (from the frozen section at walmart) and some whole wheat toast.

I also made this scrumptious salad--so YUMMY

Recipes for both the cubed steak and salad were from The Pioneer Woman. Found here and here.
Enjoy! Have a good week! :)

Baby Sophie is here!

Hey there folks! It's been at least two weeks since my last post but boy have we been busy around this house! We welcomed our sweet little Sophie Dianne on January 16th and things have been crazy since then. Thank goodness for our wonderful friends and family who have kept us stocked in food and company. Todd's been off for the last two weeks as well allowing me to sleep in until 10 and take a nap everyday, no matter what is going on.

Here are some pictures of the last two weeks. We've had a good time adjusting to being parents of two vivacious girls. Sophie is still sleeping most of the time and Kara is eating up all the attention and time she is getting to spend with Daddy.

We had newborn photos taken earlier this week by my very talented cousin--will post those soon...can't wait to see them myself.

Have a great week and enjoy!!

Project 365

Have you ever heard of Project 365?  Okay so really it's for photographers or people who want to be photographers. I am neither. But I like the idea of taking pictures every day for one year. I think it will help us sort of catalog all the fun we have this year. My pictures are not super artsy or even that great. But they are of what this family does. And to us, that's important.

So you should also know that I've not been great with doing something every single day.  And it's only January 11...I know, pretty pathetic right? So this may not be Project 365...but Project "Whenever Johanna remembers to take a picture" Worth a try right?

Here are the last two weeks worth of pictures. Some of them you have seen in previous posts. I'll try to post at least once a week--again, we'll see how that goes!

Enjoy!
My new toy! Came in great for making Kara's party decorations.

Todd took this picture one morning while eating breakfast. There are about 15 birds out there. This is the view from our kitchen table to the backyard.

Kara and I relaxing after dinner and playing with the Kindle.

Kara's family portrait

Came home early from work to paint this and surprise Kara.

Birthday Party Day! LOVE this picture.

Kara was feeling a little sick so we were cuddling on the couch...again

Woke up early (530am) and couldn't go back to sleep so I made breakfast. Yum!

Painting...and loving it.

Three years old? Really?

Today we had Kara's 3rd Birthday party. It's crazy to think it's been three years since this...

But it has, and soon--actually very soon (13 days until Sophie Day 2012), we will be welcoming the newest addition into our family. That's if she decides to arrive in time. Of course, Mommy here is hoping she'll come just a little bit early. It's getting hard to sleep and be comfortable.

So for the 3rd birthday party I was a crafty little mama if I do say so myself. I made a lot of the decorations, from scratch cupcakes with buttercream icing (yummy) and we had a pretty good time. I was given the coolest crafting machine ever, the Silhouette Cameo, for Christmas from my adoring husband. It is basically a cutter, so---let me just show you. We played "Pin the Wand on the Fairy" to keep with the fairy theme-but it's just like pin the tail on the donkey.

Here's a picture of our fairy without her wings, after I cut the cardstock from my perfect little machine.

Pink Cardstock going into the Silhouette - there's my
                                          computer on the side.
Pulling the cardstock up after it's been cut, that's the
fairy's ballet shoe (she was a fairy ballerina of course)
These were stars I drew on the computer and then cut
out using the Silhouette - they were used to make wands.
Here is our birthday girl standing beside the finished
project. I just cut all the cardstock and then taped it
                                         together. Pretty simple actually.

Making Fairy Wands! This was fun for all.

So our second game was finding "Fairy Wings" outside. It was 60 degrees outside today...crazy for January right? Had I known it would be this nice I might have planned more outside, but you just never know. Anywho, I cut some butterflies out on my fancy cutting machine and then taped them all over the yard. It was a mad dash to get the most-we had to play twice because the girls loved it so much!

This of course is our birthday girl in front of her door :)
All in all, I think she had a great time, as did we. I'm exhausted to be honest and glad that it's all over with. She however, would like to have another birthday party tomorrow, or so she told me when I tucked her in tonight. :)

On another random note, check out the family portrait Kara made of us. Pretty good for that big three year old right? Pretty cute too.
